David Radcliffe
Chief Executive
Hogg Robinson Group Plc (HRG

David Radcliffe (b. 1953) began his career as a coach driver before ascending through the ranks to become Chief Executive of Hogg Robinson Group Plc (HRG). He is a respected and popular figure in the industry.

London-born David left school and moved to live on a boat on the Norfolk Broads. Here he ran a travel agency for the AA for a number of years, also obtaining a coach driving licence and regularly ferrying coach loads of tourists around Europe. In 1978, he joined HRG UK, running a branch in Waterlooville initially, and by 1989 was Marketing Director of the main board of the UK travel operation, later becoming its Business Travel Director. In 1993 David was made Managing Director of Business Travel International (BTI), a division of HRG he had been instrumental in forming. In 1997, he was appointed Chief Executive of Hogg Robinson Plc, at the same time becoming Chairman of the HRG Worldwide Executive Board and CEO of BTI.

In 2000, David successfully led Hogg Robinson’s MBO in one of the largest public to private deals at the time. Six years later, he took the Company back to being publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange. Under his leadership, the company has expanded internationally and owns operations in 25 key markets in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. These entities are supported by contracted partners in Latin America, Africa and Middle East/West Asia. The entire network is represented in over 120 countries. In recent years, HRG has been ranked at number two in BBT’s annual top 50 leading travel management companies, with UK sales of £1 billion.

David is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management and a Companion of the Institute of Management.

David was honoured by the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame in 2014
