Antonio Llatas (b. 1943) is President of Avis Spain, the leading company in the sector of car rental in Spain, in terms of market share, profitability, customer satisfaction and network size and fleet.
Antonio was born in Valencia and began his career at Avis not long out of school, having served a brief stint with the tourist board. He worked for Avis in the Canary Islands, rising to become Area Director for the region, and was later appointed Area Director for the Costa del Sol before becoming Chief Operating Officer, and latterly CEO in 1993, followed by President of Avis Spain in 2003. In recent years he has overseen a sales network of 250 rental locations, a fleet of 41,000 vehicles and a staff of 949 employees.
In 2003, Antonio became Vice-President of the European Association of Car and Truck Rental (ECATRA) a working group dedicated to short-term rental, which brings together 7,200 rental companies from 14 countries. He has studied Tourism Management and attended the Executive Program for International Managers at Columbia University, New York. He is a member of the Professional Association of Public Relations and has attended the Program on Negotiation at Harvard University.
During his career he has also been a speaker on corporate, marketing and personnel topics.
Antonio was awarded the Silver Medal of Touristic Merit by Spain’s Ministry of Transport and Communications in recognition of over three decades in tourism. In 2000 he was made an honorary member of Les Clefs d'Or.
He was honoured by the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame in 2003.
