Abel Matutes (b. 1941) is the Spanish businessman and politician who is owner and President of the Matutes Group, and served as Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Abel was born on Ibiza, and went on to study law and business administration at the University of Barcelona, later becoming a professor of political economy and public finances at the same university. He was Mayor of Ibiza in 1970 and 1971 and became Senator for Ibiza and Formentera in 1977. In 1982, Abel left the Senate and became a member of the Spanish Parliament, representing the Balearic Islands until 1985. He was a member of the European Parliament from 1994 before taking up the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1996–2000.

Throughout his life Abel has been President of the Hotel Company, Hotels Matutes and the Hotel Association Doliga, and was also President of the Banca Abel Matutes. He created the Fiesta Hotel Group in the 1960s with two hotels in Ibiza, and throughout the 1970s the chain expanded, adding more hotels in Ibiza, as well as in Minorca, Spain and Mallorca. In the 1980s the chain expanded to the Canary Islands and during the 1990s they focused on the Caribbean, and opened several resorts in the area while also strengthening their presence in Spain.

The Fiesta Hotel Group was renamed the Palladium Hotel Group in 2012. Abel is currently President of the Matutes Group of which Palladium is a part, while his son Abel Matutes Prats is Palladium’s CEO. Palladium is also the owner and beneficiary of the boat service between Ibiza and the Island of Formentera.

Abel was honoured by the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame in 2003.
