Don Lunn
Managing Director
Ayscough & Co

J. Donald Lunn (Don) was born in 1936.

He started his career in travel when he joined Sabena Belgian Airlines in 1953 where he stayed until 1959 and, during this time, served for two years with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders in Germany and Korea.

In 1959 he joined Ayscough & Co. and was appointed Managing Director in 1968 when it became a limited company and purchased 33% of the shares. In 1984 a Management Buyout was mounted with two colleagues and he became the major shareholder in Ayscough Travel.

1986 saw the beginning of the expansion of the business with the opening another office at London Bridge. In 1990 the company acquired Fitstravel and, in June of the same year, the purchase of Rea Brothers Travel. The acquisition of these two companies doubled the size of Ayscough Travel, funded entirely from their own resources.

The Gulf War in 1991 and the subsequent World recession saw the consolidation of their position; in October 1993 offices were opened in Banbury and in November another office in Manchester. Additional offices were opened between1995 and 1999.

In May, 2002 the Company was purchased by ATP International.

Don was a well known figure within the business travel community and was honoured by the British travel Industry Hall of Fame in 2002.
