Together, the brothers have been called “the godfathers of modern restaurant cuisine in the UK” and Michel has received many accolades including Meilleur Ouvrier de France and Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in France.  He has authored 12 books that have been published in 33 countries and in 20 languages, including his latest title The Essence of French Cooking

He is patron of the Roux Scholarship founded by the brothers in 1984 to help enhance the international profile of British chefs www.rouxscholarship.co.uk .  Michel divides his time between The Waterside Inn, run by his son, Alain for more than ten years now and his latest venture, a new chic bistro, Le Miedzor in his hometown of Crans Montana, Switzerland in December 2015.  The restaurant is in a prime position next to the first hole of the golf course with views to the Alps mountains beyond.  It will offer simple but classic French dishes and others with a modern European twist.

Michel was honoured in 2016.
